Robert Coutts - Owner/Architectural Technologist

Robert Coutts (Owner/Architectural Technologist) is a graduate of the Architectural Technology program at Georgian College. With experience from working within sub-trades, Robert has extensive knowledge of construction process and practical knowledge not taught in college programs. Robert's father has been a licensed carpenter for over 40 years. Robert gained many skills and even more knowledge of construction by assisting his father all his life. Robert has lots of experience in new home design as well & spent years working in kitchen and bathroom renovation.

Robert spent some time in British Columbia working with a timber framing company. This expanded his design knowledge & variety of building methods.

Robert has also worked in exterior designing. While working with a pool & patio company, Robert improved on many skills like working with grades, proper drainage & site conditions.

BCIN & Insurance

Robert Coutts has his BCIN, which means he is registered with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs & Housing as a designer.

Why is this needed? In January 2006, Ontario Bill 124 became law. This requires that anyone submitting plans for a building permit must have a BCIN. This ensures they have passed the qualification exams for the Ontario Building Code.

RoCo carries Error & Omission Insurance. This is something they do to put your mind at ease. Should an error occur, you are not on the hook for costs associated with rectifying it. This is not something that every design firm carries, but RoCo does.

Practice safe design, use a concept.
